Beginning in 1964, Sporting News Magazine has awarded the Sporting News Men’s College Basketball Coach of the Year Award to the top Division I men’s college basketball head coach of the season. The coach to win the award the most times is UCLA legend John Wooden (four), followed by Bill Self (three) and several others with two each. Kentucky is the program with the most wins (five), followed by UCLA (four) and Kansas (three). Parenthesis indicate number of awards for that coach or school.
